Drains we clear

Flow Now Plumbing clears blockages in:

  • Sewer drains: the pipes carrying waste from your toilets, showers and sinks to the sewer.

  • Stormwater drains: the pipes carrying rainwater away from your roof, downpipes and yard.

  • Kitchen and bathroom sinks

  • Toilets

  • Showers and baths

  • Floor wastes in bathrooms, laundries and outdoor areas

Signs your drain is blocked

  • Water draining slowly from sinks, showers or baths

  • Gurgling noises from drains or the toilet

  • Bad smells coming from drains

  • The toilet water rising higher than normal when flushed

  • Water overflowing from the gully trap outside

  • Wet patches or pooling water in the yard

A slow drain often gets worse, so it pays to have it looked at early.

How blocked drains are cleared

Your plumber will choose the right method for the drain and the blockage:

  • CCTV drain camera: a camera is fed into the pipe to show exactly what's causing the blockage and where it is.

  • High-pressure jetter: a jet of water at high pressure blasts through fat, grease, silt and roots and flushes the pipe clean.

  • Electric eel: a motorised cable with a cutting head that breaks up stubborn blockages and roots.

  • Pipe locator: pinpoints where the pipe runs and how deep it is, so any repair goes in the right spot.

Tree root removal

Tree roots are one of the most common causes of blocked drains, especially in older clay pipes. Roots find their way into joints and cracks, then grow into a mat that catches everything going past. Flow Now Plumbing cuts out roots with the electric eel or jetter, then checks the pipe with the camera to see how much damage has been done.

Drain repairs and CCTV reports

Drain repairs

If the camera shows a broken, collapsed or badly root-damaged pipe, clearing it again and again won't fix the problem. Flow Now Plumbing locates the damaged section, digs it up and repairs or replaces the pipe, then tests the drain before backfilling. Pipe relining isn't offered; all repairs are done by excavation.

CCTV reports

Need proof of what's going on in the drain? Flow Now Plumbing can provide a digital camera report showing the condition of the pipe and the cause of the blockage. It's useful for property managers, landlords and owners dealing with insurers, tenants or neighbours.

Blocked drain FAQs

What causes blocked drains?

The most common causes are fat and grease, wet wipes, hair, food scraps, silt and tree roots. Broken or sunken pipes can also catch waste and cause repeat blockages.

How do you clear a blocked drain?

It depends on the blockage. Flow Now Plumbing uses a high-pressure jetter or an electric eel to clear the drain, and a CCTV drain camera to find the cause and check the pipe is clear afterwards.

Can you remove tree roots from my drains?

Yes. Roots are cut out with an electric eel or high-pressure jetter, then the pipe is checked with a camera. If the roots have broken the pipe, the damaged section can be dug up and repaired or replaced.

Do you do pipe relining?

No. Flow Now Plumbing doesn't offer pipe relining. Damaged pipes are repaired or replaced by digging up the affected section.

Can you provide CCTV footage or a report for my property?

Yes. Flow Now Plumbing can provide a digital camera report on the drain's condition for owners and property managers.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Yes. A call-out fee applies to each visit, and you'll be told the amount when you book.
